LAYNE R. CHRISTENSEN, OPTOMETRIST
Dr. Christensen graduated from UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1984. He was in private practice in the Bay Area before relocating his practice to Grass Valley in 1994. Dr. Christensen is a member of the California Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He and his wife Cheryl are the proud parents of six children and grandparents to nine. He enjoys many outdoor activities, backpacking, softball and water skiing being among his favorites. If you caught him at home, in his spare time, you would probably find him gardening. Dr.Christensen spends many hours doing volunteer church service. He particularly enjoys working with the youth groups. As with most Nevada County residents, he will tell you the reasons he enjoys living here are the warm, friendly people and the family friendly atmosphere.

Robyn
Robyn is the Office Manager having worked in the practice since 1989. Along with the rest of the staff, she wears many hats. Receptionist, billing, and lens selection are among her everyday duties. She is committed to excellent customer service and is skilled at helping patients find the perfect frame for fashion and function.

Carol
Carol has been on staff for over 15 years. She brings her great customer service and technical skills to work with her everyday. Carol is an Optical Technician with much experience in frame and lens selection. She performs pretesting along much of the specialty testing. Carol is also our contact lens specialist, assisting first time and existing contact lens wearers with training.

Cheryl
Cheryl first worked in an Optometric practice in the Bay Area as an Optometric Assistant. She continues in that role at our office doing preliminary testing and contact lens training. She began wearing glasses in 2nd grade, was fitted for contact lenses in high school, and has had Lasik surgery as an adult. In her spare time she enjoys backpacking and traveling to visit family. She recently received certification as a COPE director and does volunteer work as a youth leader.

Carly
Carly is the newest member of our work family having worked in the practice since June of 2009. She is working part-time while attending the Nevada County Campus of Sierra College. She will assist you in pretesting, glasses dispensing, scheduling, and frame selection.
